WNT UK Ltd
Following the official opening of the MACH 2016 exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, by British track cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy MBE, it is customary for the guest of honour to tour the halls and chat with exhibitors. The Team WNT off-road, road, and motor cycle display on the WNT stand proved to be an unmissable attraction for him, so he stopped off to chat with WNT’s Global Managing Director, Claude Sun, and Team Manager Marcus Nainby.
As six-times Olympic track cycling champion, with a total of seven Olympic medals (six gold and one silver) to his name, along with 11 world championships Sir Chris Hoy MBE is without doubt Great Britain’s most successful Olympian and cyclist. Now retired from cycling and embarking on a sports car racing career, his love of cycling remains undiminished and upon spotting the WNT bike display he made a bee-line for the stand and took the opportunity to speak in detail with Claude and Marcus about WNT’s involvement with cycling.
As with all enthusiasts conversation was animated and Sir Chris was fascinated by the synergy between cutting tools and cycling, with Claude explaining how WNT’s tooling is used by many leading suppliers to the cycling industry, such as Hope Technology and Rotor, to improve the manufacturing efficiency and quality of their products; with many of these being used on Team WNT’s road and off-road bikes, and indeed the Moto 3 motorcycle.
“It is not every day that you have the opportunity to meet a sporting legend that has achieved so much in an activity that is both a personal and corporate passion, so it was a great privilege to meet Sir Chris Hoy and explain WNT’s enthusiasm for all things two-wheeled related and how we combine our support of cycling and motorcycling with our day-to-day business activities. What we had to say seemed to resonate with him and we were really pleased that he connected with what we are aiming to achieve through our activities in the cycling world,” says Claude Sun.
