On July 9th 2015 WNT together with partner DMG MORI hosted a first joint customer event at the WNT Technical Center in Kempten, Germany. Customers from the region were introduced to new technologies and had the opportunity to share experiences.
After a short welcome from Melissa Albeck (Head of International Business Development at WNT) and Martin Höscheler (Area Sales Manager at DMG MORI Munich) the participants were presented with the first key topic for the event: Trochoidal Milling. Andy Kuklinski (Team Leader Technical Training) explained which machining applications could benefit from the use of trochodial milling strategies and discussed some processes in detail. After hearing the theory the visitors were keen to see a practical demonstration, which was carried out on a DMG MORI Milling Center DMC650V. While Andy Kuklinski explained the trochoidal milling operations step by step, Martin Höscheler answered questions related to the machine.
After a short break information about application specific spindle selection as well as improved carbide substrates and cutting edge preparation was presented in another theory session. These topics were again demonstrated live on the WNT Technical Center machines. Visitors had the opportunity to experience new WNT tools in action that have not yet been launched and also hear about some interesting strategies for optimal machining. The demonstrations were followed by an open discussion where all participants could exchange experiences. All in all it was a most interesting and informative afternoon.
